Since 1972, The Armagh Piper's Club has been producing music tutor books which have gone into many editions and are in use world wide. In 1972 there were no teaching aids whatsoever for Irish traditional music. All available collections of music dated back to the 19th Century and were out of print. The Club published its first hand written, hand stencilled, "Learn to Play the Tin Whistle" in the same year.
