Armagh musicians now play an important role in the international professional music scene. Lúnasa with piper Cillian Vallely have just finished recording a new CD in California; they recently played to a 1O00-strong audience in the National Concert Hall in Dublin. We are delighted to welcome them to Armagh on November 10th to open the WKPF.

Dorsa have also recorded another CD; Stephanie Makem is the new singer in the band which has been touring extensively in Europe during the summer and we look forward to seeing them in Armagh during WKPF. North Cregg have also had a busy summer which included appearances at the Tonder Festival in Denmark and Milwaukee Irish Festival. North Cregg's fiddler Caoimhín Vallely is currently recording a CD of traditional music on piano and was recently seen on RTÉ playing at the Rose of Tralee Festival.

Accordion player, Leo McCann, is now playing with new Scottish band, Edinburgh-based band, Malinky and we hope that we will see them in Armagh in the near future. Patricia Daly has recently completed her MA course in Traditional Music Performance in the University of Limerick and we extend all our congratulations to her. She also found time to organise the Edward Bunting Harp Festival which brought many fine musicians to Armagh.

Brian Finnegan's band Flook have just released their third CD "Rubai" which is even more exciting than the previous two and ranks high on the record charts.

Niall and Cillian Vallely have launched their new CD of concertina and pipes entitled "Callanbridge" with an autumn tour in the USA and will have a launch here in Armagh before Christmas.

Eamonn Curran performed at the Pencader Festival of Piping in Wales in September, while Brian Vallely and Jarlath Henderson travelled to the Dutch Piping Tionól also in September.

Fintan Vallely and Eithne Vallely are currently involved in organising the second Crossroads Conference which will be held next April. Fintan is now on the staff of the Academy for Irish Cultural Heritages at Magee College in Derry, while Eithne lectures in traditional music at St. Patrick's Teacher Training College in Dublin.

Flute-player Martin Meehan celebrated his wedding to Sorcha Ní Mhathúna at the end of September and we extend our best wishes to them both.

Alana Henderson was a guest singer at the Ennistimon Singing Festival. The Senior Group played on a live Céilí House recording from Armagh on Saturday 21st to celebrate the All-Ireland Football Final; they were also performed at the Mid-Ulster Folk Festival in Cookstown in October.

Congratulations to Sinéad Lennon, Mary O'Neill and Judith O'Neill on obtaining their Grade 8 LCM exam.

Following the 2001 performance of a 35 member uilleann pipe ensemble, the club continued its innovative ideas in 2002 with a large ensemble of Harps and Pipes.

Amsterdam piper Paul Eliasberg tells us that he is moving to Armagh soon and we are delighted to welcome him.
